Since March 2020, the NSCP have made the switch from in-person to virtual workshops, as COVID-19 made planning for in-person sessions difficult. Please see the below recorded workshops and webinars:

 

April 2022 – Turning Pasture and Forage into Profit

Christine O’Reilly, OMAFRA, Shane Wood and Katie Trottier, Perennia, discuss:

  • Pasture production and spring turn-out strategies,
  • Forage management, species selection and harvesting for quality
  • Nutrition and balancing rations for different production stages

March 2022 – Grazing Cattle on Cover Crops

Katie Trottier and Jonathan Wort, Perennia, discuss grazing cattle on cover crops, with a focus on a grazing demonstration that took place in Falmouth, December 2021.


January 2022 – NSCP Virtual Zone Meeting Presentation 

The 2022 Zone Meetings were held virtually January 10-13, 2022. This presentation provides an update on projects and programs the NSCP are working on, a Maritime Beef Council update, and presentations by Dr. Wilma Schenkels, Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, and Dr. Alexander Burrows, Fundy Vets.

October 2020 – Beef Cattle Vaccinations

The importance of beef cattle vaccinations is discussed, featuring Dr. Alexander Burrows (Fundy Vets), Jonathan Wort (Perennia), Brad McCallum (NSCP) and Ellen Crane (Beef Cattle Research Council).  Vaccination technique, handling, premiums and economics are all covered.
